However the Jailbreaking genius George Hotz (a.k.a. Geohot) release his first device Blackra1n to "tether" Jailbreak all Apple products. In March 2010 Wii Homebrew creator Comex introduced a test of an "untethered" Jailbreak using his device called Spirit. After the discharge of iPad 3G, Comex's Spirit premiered Jailbreaking all Apple products working on 3.1-3.2, untethered. Not until early 2010, Jailbreaking becomes legal beneath the DMCA in Usa and several other places like Europe although Apple state it to void the warranty. Until now Jailbreaking is still developing as new Apple products or firwares are introduced.

What's Tethered and Untethered Jailbreak?

Many individuals, specially the newbies in Jailbreaking don't know the big difference between a tether Jailbreak and untethered Jailbreak. Well to make it short and distinct, Tethered Jailbreaking is a type of Jailbreak that still depends on the software used to Jailbreak a system each time it needs to restart, meaning, each time the tethered product is hard booted, turn off or ran out of battery it can't start on a jailbroken state until you link it to the computer and run the application you used to Jailbrake it, repeating some of the means of Jailbreaking. While on the other side, Untethered Jailbreak, all products under this Jailbreak may individually machine itself anytime, preserving its Jailbroken state without requiring the application used to Jailbreak it.
