Wow....just wow. Absolutely amazing. Honestly, just like emotional and fantastic because very first time I read it. I would not be aware of the place to start this review!

Two hundred years earlier, the united states was destroyed and in its midst rose the Capitol using its surrounding 13 districts. Each district have their own way of living as well as a time lived peacefully. However, after a time, the districts rose up against the Capitol and a rebellion ensued. Featuring its superior weaponry and technology, the Capitol defeated the districts and completely obliterated District 13. To indicate the districts how superior Capitol is, each year two children, one boy then one girl from each district, are chosen to combat on the death within the Hunger Games. 24 enter, 1 arrives. Allow the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games begin.

Y'all need to comprehend that i'm not and emotional person when it comes to books. No, I promise I'm not heartless, I just don't cry easily. Yes, during books my heartrate accelerates and I'll feel bad for the characters, on the other hand don't actually cry. That is among the only books where We have come this near to tears. And thats saying something.

Before I am into each of the emotional part of this book, I have to first speak about the characters.

Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's the most popular kind of heroine and I be aware that sometimes these types begin to blend together but something I enjoy about her would be the fact although she might be these matters like a great number of other heroines in existence, she's not really lovable and witty similar to others. She's standoffish plus a loner also it has a while for someone for getting right through to her. She's mature beyond her years because she's being. She was crowned the sole supporter of her family at this kind of early age and yes it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this tough exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's right in front of her: the belief that people worry about her. However, although its challenging to get past her hardened exterior, once you do, she is a really kind and admirable person. The vast majority of shown through her actions at the reaping. She cared a whole lot on her family she was happy to risk her life, knowing that her chances for coming back home were slim, to keep her sister safe. If it is really not merit respect, however are not aware of what is.

Peeta is a great character. He's virtually the complete the complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly likes you Katniss even when she can't find it herself. While you avoid getting to understand to much about him because this is from Katniss' perspective, you'll be able to still note that he's got admirable qualities too. Normally I prefer the alpha male and also the bad-boy (Perhaps its kinda my weakness) however do also fall for the sweet, respectful guys i fell head-over-heels for his heart.

As for secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own personal way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a bit to much, but includes a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly likes you Katniss while he hardly knows her. Even the other tributes each had their own personalities that built them into unique (Don't even get me began on Rue!).

This book was just so incredibly emotional. 24 kids go into an arena and simply 1 arrives. I honestly can't even imagine finding yourself in their situation. I know i would do whatever it took to survive, wait, how would that change me? Each tribute only agreed to be trying to survive. They did not wish to be there (well, except some), but were forced to be. If your facing your immediate death, how would you act? Survival changes people. These different reactions with their situations were shown remarkably well through all the different tributes. Collins' does a wonderful jobs of showing how people would fare in this situation. While every one of the bloodshed in the arena itself is disturbing, the most disturbing thing in my opinion was the fact individuals of the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and them it had been just entertainment. We were holding completely oblivious!! It had been all merely a game directly to them. As long as these were entertained, these were happy. That it was sick. Completely and utterly sick.

And boost the comfort, I felt awful to the other tributes, at the same time they tried to kill Katniss and Peeta. How could you not? These were thrown into a situation many weren't ready for and simply looking for home. Even though they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right as well as Katniss. She, too, understands that these folks were only doing what they have to had to function like she was.

The Hunger Games may be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is often a beautiful story brimming with survival, hope and fighting for which you like.
