Choosing a camera can be quite overwhelming with all the models that are available on the market today. Locating the most suitable of canon zoom lenses could be daunting, but very possible.
When considering deciding which canon zoom lenses interest you, the whole point of a camera with interchangeable lenses is that you could attach whatever lens you'll need. Unlike an easy compact digital using its non-removable lens you are not limited to whatever the manufacturer builds into the camera. Second, everyone has different needs and budgets. So it is usually desirable not to incorporate a lens to help you choose the lens or lenses that are right for you, not really a generic lens. Third, let's say you were to buy another camera? You would then have a couple of exactly the same lenses.
There are three general categories of canon zoom lenses with regards to how much of a scene they are able to take in, and the field of view of each type is defined by an optical property referred to as focal entire lens.
A so-called normal lens roughly approximates the perspective, though not the area of, a scene seen by one eye. By convention an ordinary lens on a 35mm film camera (and therefore a full-frame EOS digital SLR) includes a focal length of 50mm approximately. Think about normal lenses as being good for taking photos in close, although not intimate, proximity to some subject, like a waist-up picture of the part of an ordinary room.
A wide-angle lens can take in a large area of a scene. This has two common applications - first, this means you can take in sweeping panoramic landscape scenes, and second, you can consume large regions of an ordinary room. If you want to take a photo of the number of friends at a social gathering you'll need a wide angle lens unless you can back up far enough to obtain everyone in. On a 35mm film camera a wide angle lens might have a focal period of, say, 35mm or less.
Looking through a telephoto lens is much like using a telescope - it narrows down what can be viewed in a scene or makes the subject seem much closer of computer really is. A telephoto lens might have a focal period of 70mm or even more on the 35mm camera.
You might or might not have an idea of which canon zoom lenses you might want to use. The categories I pointed out above, are obviously broad, and there are huge variations in each one. This is where you have to decide which lens will be suitable for the picture taking needs.
